It's a rainy, cloudy day in Beaverton today. Which isn't bad in my opinion. I admit, I'm more of a gray weather gal. All the cozy comforts of cold weather are much more appealing to me than the constant battle to get cool when it's hot out. But now that we have central air I can afford to be a little more kindly to the summer wardrobe of mother nature. Personal preferences aside, the rain does have drawback in that Colin can't get outside. And it definately helps when we can add the outdoor "room" to Colin's world. Gives him some room to roam! And with our new fountain (former half-finished pond), there are relatively few hazards for him to encounter.
Speaking of hazards, we had our first burn unit response when Colin figured out how to turn on my curling iron and wrap his little paw around the barrel. We came running to a scream and pieced it together from the blister on this thumb and his constantly saying OW while holding his hand. Thanks to the safety-minded hubs we have a great first-aid kit with burn cream. Great since Colin wasn't too interested in holding a bag of ice in his hand. We salved up the offending paw and put a few largish bandiges to keep it in place. Amazingly, Colin didn't try to remove the wrapping, instead he seemed almost a bit proud as he kept pointing to the injured area and saying "itsat" (trans: what's that?) in a solumn tone.
It could have been worse, and it will happen again, but it was a little hearbreaking all the same.
