That would be a negative

I guess ogling over hot firemen all day isn’t in my future. (love ya hon!)

The job prospect cooled off. It was a communications job with our local fire district, which is the second largest in the state and encompasses six cities in four counties. I made it through the second interview and they chose to proceed with four candidates who had emergency services experience. Can’t say as I blame them, but I think I would have done a good job there with a bit of trial by, er, fire.

It would have had some drawbacks, giving up my flex schedule, being on call 24/7 several weeks a year, being in crisis mode a lot of the time...

But it also would have been challenging, ever-changing, engaging and lucrative. Did I mention hot firemen?

So once again I need to remember how lucky I am to have my job, with it’s four-day work week, good pay, relatively routine (ie low stress) work load and good-for-the-most-part coworkers. Everything happens for a reason, and for some freakin reason I can’t understand, other than the potential that I kicked puppies in a previous life the universe thinks I still have some lessons to learn from my current situation.

No tears though. I am proud of myself for making it as far as I did, and I am getting pretty confident in my ability to get through intense interviews. When the time is right, something will appear. And now I will have time to test a little scheme I’ve been developing as a fun money maker. We shall see…

Hi, still here!

Yep, still here. The desire/ability to spew words comes and goes, and lately it's more go than come. Work and a certain young boy creature is sapping the mojo out of me, we've been gone several weekends in a row, and I'm trying to get my garden in the ground and be done with trying to hold back Colin from stomping on the wee plants "cause it's funny!"

Colin has a definate stinker streak emerging in his personality. And I fear it's entering the "will we be parental victims of abuse AKA Lifetime Movie of the Week?" territory. When he accidentally bonks us with a toy, stick, hammer...whatever happens to be in his hand, we say "ow" in the universally understood expression of "knock that shit off." But instead of showing concern for the pain inflicted, he grins, aims, and does it again! All on purpose and stuff. And then the little bugger acts all confounded and uses the "I was jus tapping you!?" when he gets a consequence* for it.

These days he is a big one for back talking. When we tell him to stop doing something he turns around and fires back, (brows glowering and finger pointing) "Don't you talk me like dat!" Or when he's in time out and we tell him he can get up, "Don't you look at me!" Or when we tell him to quit banging on the elderly cat, "I was jus LOVING him!"

He also peed off the front porch yesterday, passed the bathroom to do it. Rob was MORTIFIED. I was doing dishes, and trying not to laugh.

*we're trying to use different "consequences" to add to the discipline rotation. So instead of him getting a time out, the toy might get a time out. Or he loses his dessert, storytime, etc. to have the consequence fit the crime.

On the job front, I got a first interview for the position I applied for, and got invited back for a second, so there's some progress going on there! Now the brain is going into pro and con mode, also called, "what will I have to give up/lose and what will I gain to get something that may or may not be a better gig?"
